SynRISE PhD Assistantship - Syngene Research in Science Excellence (SynRISE) offers PhD assistantships to women in STEM fields
During FY25, Biocon Academy, in collaboration with Syngene, achieved significant milestones in biotechnology education and industry engagement:
We have invested Rs 13 crore over five years in the Biocon-Hebbagodi Metro Station to address Bengaluru’s growing transportation needs. The Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line was inaugurated on August 10, 2025, by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who acknowledged the Biocon Group’s contribution to its development.
In addition to the station, we have undertaken several urban improvement initiatives, including painting 53 pier walls with Channapatna-inspired art designed by the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design & Technology, and developing 37 median gardens along the Biocon-Hebbagodi to Huskur Gate stretch. A bus stop has been constructed beneath the station to support seamless connectivity. Biocon Foundation has partnered with Indian Institute of Science and Bengaluru Science & Technology Cluster to assess the Impact of Yellow Line of Namma Metro on public health and quality of life of commuters.
A third-party impact assessment for eLAJ Smart Clinics has been undertaken by the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB).
Management for Holistic Engagement and Action for Long-Term Health (M-HEALTH) framework for eLAJ Smart Clinics:
Standardized protocols ensured 93.1% patient follow-up for hypertension and diabetes, with high medication adherence rates - 87.1% for hypertension, 93.1% for diabetes, and 97.1% for both conditions.
91.2% of patients accessed diagnostic services, all provided free of cost, supporting comprehensive care and early detection.
Through screenings and camps, 5,200 individuals were screened for oral cancer; 26% with high-risk habits were enrolled in the mHealth app.
Most patients achieved controlled blood pressure and glucose levels. Hospitalization rates remained low - 5% overall, 2.6% for NCD-related cases.
Syngene and the Biocon Foundation are committed to eLAJ's ongoing improvement, focusing on optimized clinic timings, a strengthened medication supply chain, and the development of an integrated health information system.
